DELORES BERINGER

Delores “Dody” (nee Olson) Beringer, 81, formerly of Woodstock, Ill., passed away Dec. 4, 2017, in Crystal Lake, Ill.

She was born in Walworth on March 24, 1936, to Hubert and Katherine (nee Eifer) Olson.

The eldest of five, she was often relied upon to help care for her younger siblings. However, her supervision often turned into daredevil games or pretend adventures.

She graduated from Walworth High School in 1954. Having met the love of her life, Richard Beringer, they married in 1956, and this past April they celebrated 61 years of marriage.

Over the years she was a dedicated employee for several businesses. She spoke proudly of her responsibilities while working for Dr. Wiswell as his office nurse. Dody also helped Richard start and grow his company, Accura Tool and Mold.

Together with Richard she raised three active boys. She frequently volunteered at their school, which allowed her to be very involved in their education and success. Dody loved to read, draw and go hiking. She enjoyed traveling and playing tennis. She even took French classes at the community college for her enjoyment. But being together with family was always the most important thing to her.

Passionately creative, Dody designed houses, which Richard built. She also designed and sewed clothing for herself always looking uniquely fashionable. She kept a meticulous house while enjoying cooking and entertaining. Her two favorite holidays were the 4th of July and Christmas. Each occasion was celebrated with family, festive decorations and delicious food.

In later years, once the boys were older, Dody worked as a volunteer, in addition to serving as president for the Woodstock Fine Arts Association, dedicating her time in support of the arts in the community and the Woodstock Opera House. She especially enjoyed welcoming celebrity speakers and hosting a finely decorated table for the annual luncheon fundraiser. Dody also shared her time at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Woodstock.

Dody is survived by her husband, Richard; sons, Jeffrey (Corrine), Brent (Jacqualyn), and Brian (Kathy); grandchildren, Jess (Tawny), John (Kate), Brittany (Mark), Nicole, Aileen, Samantha, Grant, Erik, Carl and Breanna; great-grandchildren, Mason, Wyatt, Jaxin, and Dexter; siblings, Joan (Royce) Garrett, Dale (Kris) Olson, Elaine (Eldyn) Endl, and Richard (Denise) Thomssen; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Frederick Olson.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., today at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave. (Rte. 176), Crystal Lake, Ill. Mass will be Saturday at 11 a.m. with a short visitation starting at 10 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 1023 McHenry Ave., Crystal Lake, Ill.
