The City of Whitewater is re-upping with a Jefferson County organization that oversees various economic development activities throughout the region.

The Common Council on Nov. 7 approved a new, five-year agreement with the Jefferson County Economic Development Authority at a cost of $4,413. As a member, the city has the resources of officials within the authority, including director Victoria Pratt.

Whitewater also holds membership to a similar organization, the Walworth County Economic Development Alliance. Dave Carlson, executive director of the city’s Community Development Authority, said membership to the Walworth County organization is “a similar amount.”

“Being that we straddle the Jefferson and Walworth County lines, we are in a unique position,” Carlson said as he discussed the new Jefferson County agreement.
