LEONA DOUBEK

Leona (Nee Segebarth) Doubek, 99 of Menomonee Falls, formerly of East Troy, was born to eternal life on Nov. 19, 2017.

She was born in 1918 in Milwaukee to the late Louis and Alma (Schlee) Segebarth.

She and was a graduate of Wauwatosa High School.

After attending Milwaukee State Teachers College for two years, she began her 44-year career in education, starting as a teacher in a one room rural school in Walworth County. She continued her education to receive her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in elementary education and administration at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She taught at Hillside and Okauchee Schools in Waukesha County and Honey Creek and Troy Center School in Walworth County before joining the staff at the East Troy Elementary School.

After teaching there seven years, she served as principal for 22 years; she then retired in 1984. In 1999 the school was renamed in her honor.

She was a member of the Woman’s Club of East Troy where she was a past-president, Friends of the East Troy Library, Pi Lambda Theta, Epsilon Chapter, Association of Wisconsin School Administrators, National Association of Elementary School Principals and Walworth County Area Retired Educators Association.

Leona was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in East Troy, where she was a former Sunday school teacher and choir director; and a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lannon.

She is survived by a special nephew, Jeff Doubek; her dear friends, Keith and Diane Pollek; and grand nieces and nephews.

She was further preceded in death by her beloved husband, Franklin F. Doubek; loving sister, Vennice A. Segebarth; infant brother, Harold; brother-in-law, Eugene (Eugenia) Doubek; sister-in-law, Edith (Gaylord) Armstrong.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 25, at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 20813 Forest View Drive, Lannon. Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until time of service at the church. Private burial at Arlington Park Cemetery, Milwaukee.

Memorials to St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church or School, Lannon, are suggested.
