Kaitlyn Higgins said she would spend hours doing forward rolls at home as a young child. At the age of 4, her mom signed her up for gymnastics as a way for her to wear off some energy. Recently, Higgins signed herself up for gymnastics – this time on a college scholarship.

On Nov. 8, Higgins, who was joined by her parents, Tim and Jill, signed a National Letter of Intent with the University of Minnesota at the Gymnastics Academy of Rockford in Rockford, Ill.

Higgins said immediately upon getting involved in gymnastics, she had a passion for it.

“I fell in love with the sport and couldn’t wait to go back to practice each day. It has been 13 years since I first began doing gymnastics and my love for the sport hasn’t changed,” she said.
