School Board moves forward to fill vacancy

The Whitewater Unified School Board is now in the process of filling a vacancy, following the departure of Gretchen Torres in October.

Torres, whose term expires in April, submitted her resignation prior to the October School Board meeting and was subsequently approved by the board.

In a press release issued earlier this week by the district, it was announced the School Board has scheduled the potential selection to be Dec. 11.

Those who are interested should submit a letter of interest to the District Office, 419 South Elizabeth Street, by 4 p.m. on Dec. 7.

The person appointed by the board will fulfill the remainder of the term, unless removed from office prior to election. If the person who is appointed would wish to continue on the board beyond April, he or she will have to run for re-election.

Questions regarding the vacancy may be directed to Jodie TenPass at 262-472-8702.

Spring election

Residents interested in running for a School Board seat must submit paperwork by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 2. Paperwork will be available in the District Office after the election notice is posted.
