The East Troy Lioness and Lions clubs are having a Monster Mash from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 29, at Ivan’s Backstage, 2087 Main St., East Troy.

The free family event will feature cookie decorating, crafts, a mummy race, games and face painting from 1 to 3 p.m. The Monster Mash Kid’s Dance will run from 2 to 4 p.m. and the Trick-or-Treat Parade Around the Square will be from 4 to 5 p.m.

This is the second year for the event and organizers are using it as a fundraising opportunity to help purchase playground equipment for Prairie View Elementary School.

“While everything about this event is free for those who visit with their kids, we’re hoping to raise money though a raffle and cash donations,” Chuck Dimick said.

He credited Lioness Megan Stoychoff for the idea of adding a parade to this year’s event said the Lioness and Lions clubs continued support, along with Ivan’s, was very appreciated.

“We were just trying to do something free and fun for the community,” Stoychoff said. “We had about 30 families last year and we’re hoping to grow the event this year with the added activities.”

Stoychoff said the fundraising for the new playground equipment was a way to add to the East Troy Parent Teacher Organization’s large donation.

“We’re trying to help them with a little more money for the other things needed,” she said. “The PTO is doing a lot of it, but there is still a large chunk of money needed to finish the project.”
