Keefe goes pink

Campaign honors Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Keefe Real Estate helped promote and bring awareness to breast cancer for the month of October by changing the company’s iconic, dome-shaped sign from the traditional green to pink.

The company is underwriting the cost of the signs, and Keefe agents are making donations to use the signs for the month. Additionally, Keefe is accepting tax-deductible donations through Keefe Kares, the company’s 501(c)(3) non-profit. All money donated will be directed toward the Aurora Health Care Foundation’s Breast Cancer Program in Walworth, Racine and Kenosha Counties.

“Breast cancer is an issue that is near and dear to everyone in the Keefe Real Estate family as two of its members recently went through battles with the disease,” a press release states.

Keefe Goes Pink began when agent Andy Schmidt approached president and CEO Tom Keefe with the idea to turn the signs pink. Recognizing the potential, and knowing the company’s agents would join the effort, Keefe’s management team forged ahead.

“Breast Cancer is a disease that hits close to home for us. We feel that our visibility in the community gives us a responsibility to play our part in raising awareness and funds for the cause. We are fortunate to be in this position, and we take great joy in giving back and supporting those affected in our local community,” Tom Keefe said.

During the month, Keefe agents changed select listing signs to the color pink and asked for community involvement through photos posted to social media with the pink signs using the hashtag #KeefeGoesPink. Community members are also encouraged to make a donation to Keefe Kares.

Keefe Kares donated more than $50,000 to local charities in 2016. In 2017, Keefe Kares donated $3,000 to the Aurora Health Care Foundation’s Breast Cancer Program.

“We are thankful for Keefe and Keefe Kares as they support our efforts to raise awareness and funds for this cause,” a statement from the Aurora Healthcare Center for Breast Cancer said.
