City of Elkhorn sets date for budget hearing

Projected mill rate expected to increase slightly

At last week’s City of Elkhorn Common Council meeting councilmembers opted in favor of setting a public hearing on the 2018 budget for 6 p.m., Monday, Nov. 13 at City Hall.

During his report Oct. 16, City Administrator Sam Tapson offered what he described as highlights of the 2018 budget.

Tapson said the non-property tax revenue stream is projected at $31.2 million, which includes about $3 million in proposed general obligation debt in the next year. As for general property tax, which includes debt service on existing debt, Tapson said that comes in at roughly $5.46 million, about a 12 percent increase… for the complete story, pick up a copy of the Oct. 19 Elkhorn Independent.
