An Illinois man and a Genoa City man died Friday in a two-truck crash in the Town of Sugar Creek.

Eufemio Jimenez Ferrel, 24, of Round Lake, Ill., and Ronald Passfield, 52, of Genoa City, died in the crash. Walworth County sheriff’s deputies believe the Nissan Frontier pick-up Ferrel was driving south on highway 12/67 crossed the centerline and struck the Chevy Silverado truck Passfield was driving north.

Jill Krane, 51, of Genoa City, a passenger in Passfield’s truck suffered severe but non-life threatening injuries, according to the sheriff’s department.

Ferrel was the sole occupant in his truck and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Walworth County Medical Examiner’s Office, according to the department. Passfield and Krane were taken to area hospitals with critical injuries, and Passfield succumbed to his injuries at a hospital, according to a press release from the sheriff’s department.

Highway 12/67 was closed for about 3 ½ hours as a result of the crash.
