East Troy High School and East Troy Middle School were placed on lockdown for a short time this morning when a 30-year-old man harassed a woman walking her dog in the vicinity of the schools.

Village of East Troy Police Chief Alan Boyes said the woman called police when the man started following her and yelling at her.

“She called us and went to investigate and he refused to cooperate with us,” Boyes said. “He refused to tell us his name. Refused to tell us where he lived. Refused to tell us what he was doing there. He was just acting really squirrelly with me and we took him into custody. The whole thing was over by 7:55 a.m. It was literally about 15 minutes total.”

Boyes said the schools were locked down as a “precautionary” measure while police investigated the call simply because of the proximity to the schools.

“We gave him citations for obstructing a police officer, disorderly conduct and disturbing the peace and then he was released,” Boyes said.

The name of the suspect isn’t being released at this time.
