Kettle Moraine among nominees for scenic route

In anticipation of the arrival of fall colors across the state, Travel Wisconsin is asking fall foliage fans to help pick this year’s best fall drive in the state.

Votes can be cast for Walworth County’s Kettle Moraine scenic drive through Oct. 2 on TravelWisconsin.com.

The Kettle Moraine scenic drive takes travelers through the southern and northern units of the Kettle Moraine State Forest. It includes panoramas, waysides, historic sites and recreation areas. The drive starts in Whitewater and goes north to Elkhart Lake.

The Ultimate Fall Drive Showdown is composed of these 10 scenic routes in the state:

  • Wisconsin Lake Superior Byway;
  • Door County Coastal Byway;
  • Nicolet-Wolf River Scenic Byway;
  • Chippewa County Ice Age Drive;
  • Rustic Road 62 featuring Timm’s Hill in Price County;
  • Wisconsin Great River Road National Scenic Byway;
  • Kettle Moraine scenic drive;
  • Highway 33 from Baraboo to La Crosse;
  • Cranberry Highway Wisconsin Rapids Area, and;
  • Rustic Road 29 featuring Snake Road in Lake Geneva.

By visiting Travel Wisconsin’s Fall Color Report, visitors can use an interactive map to locate peak foliage along with nearby activities, events, places to stay and where to eat. More than 100 fall color reporters throughout the state provide updates for all 72 counties.

Fall fanatics can stay on top of the state’s rapidly changing color by:

  • Checking the report from their mobile device, tablet or desktop computer;
  • Texting “WI Fall” to 468311 to receive Fall Color Report alerts; and
  • Signing up to have the Fall Color Report emailed every Thursday in time to make weekend plans.
