The Elkhorn Area High School girls golf team played two of the tougher teams in the Southern Lakes Conference last week, and have the scars to prove it.

The Elks lost 186-218 to Waterford at Rivermoor Golf Club, the Wolverines’ home course, on Sept. 5.

Elkhorn lost 205-222 to Badger Sept. 7 on the East Course at Evergreen Country Club, which is the Elks’ home course.

The Elks played Westosha last Tuesday in a SLC match at Brighton Dale Links in Kansasville, and played Wednesday in a scramble at Twin Lakes Country Club.

Elkhorn’s next meet is tomorrow, Sept. 21, when they head back to Brighton Dale for the Southern Lakes Conference Tournament.

“We played two good teams in tough course conditions,” coach Mark Malvitz said of the meets against Waterford and Badger. “We are going to focus on adjusting to drier fall conditions and finishing strong over the next few weeks.”

Waterford’s Aubrie Torhorst led all golfers with a 43 over nine holes. Natalie Horn carded a 46, Maddy Anderson finished at 58 and Sophia Schoenfeld scored 49.
