MIKE SQUIRE

Mike Squire “Squidy,” 57, a lifelong resident of Palmyra, passed away unexpectedly on July 28, 2017 at Aurora Medical Center in Summit.

Mike was born on March 3, 1960, to the late Robert and Mary (Overgard) Squire. He graduated from Palmyra/Eagle High School in 1978. Mike worked for Sadie’s Tavern and when the bar owner’s retired in 1993, he purchased the business. A fire, in December of 1996, devastated the building. Mike decided to purchase the building, renovate (with the help of his friends), and on Feb. 21, 1998, reopened the bar, now known as Squidy’s. Squidy (as he is known by his friends) could be sarcastic and somewhat grumpy at times but would give you the shirt off his back. He took pride in his business and giving back to the community. There wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for his family and friends. He attended as many home Wisconsin Badger games as possible, watched every Green Bay Packer game, enjoyed playing golf, gambling and playing poker.

He was loved will be missed by his family and all his friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service for Mike will be at 4 p.m. on Aug. 19, 2017, at Haase Lockwood and Associates Funeral Home 320 W. Main St. Palmyra with the Rev. Karen Klatt officiating. Following the service, there will be a celebration of his life at Squidy’s Bar.
