LYNN NOSTRANT

      Lynn Nostrant, 70, of Stanwood, Mich., passed away Aug. 4, 2017, at her home.

She was born May 9, 1947, in Elkhorn, to Raymond and Juanita (Dyer) McDonough. Lynn graduated from Delavan-Darien High School. She attended the Bryant and Stratton Business College before she earned her cosmetology degree from schools in Minnesota and Montana. Lynn was board certified in Minnesota, Montana and Michigan for cosmetology. She served on the Michigan Cosmetology Board of Directors.

Lynn married Jim C. Nostrant on Sept. 3, 1966, at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Delavan. They knew each other throughout high school but did not start dating until Jim was a freshman in college. Together they raised their family in Montana and throughout the Midwest. Lynn was employed by Sta-Rite Industry working as a secretary for the president. On a spur-of-the-moment news assignment while working for WKLK radio station, Lynn won the Stringer of the Month Reporting Award in Cloquet, Minn.

In 1985, the family settled to the Stanwood area and Lynn began her cosmetology career at Mr. Karl’s in Big Rapids, Mich., for eight years and then moved to A Flair for Hair in Canadian Lakes in Michigan. Lynn was a phenomenal beautician and had many passionately devoted clients whom she cherished.

She was very active in the community and was a member of the Big Rapids Lions Club acting as president in 2010 in Michigan. Lynn was a member of St. Mary-St. Paul Catholic Parish in Big Rapids, Mich. She enjoyed traveling and driving. Lynn’s family and extended family meant everything to her. She played an important role in their lives and was a major support for her children, grandchildren and great-grandson.

Lynn is survived by her husband of nearly 51 years, Jim C. Nostrant, of Stanwood, Mich.; Lisa M. (Jeffrey) Turner, of West Lafayette, Ind., Carey A. (John) Yukich, of Crown Point, Ind., James J. Nostrant, of Stanwood, Mich., and Katie L. Nostrant, of Evart, Mich.; 11 grandchildren, Andrew (Alex Starr), Brandon and Jordan Cebulla, Kyle and Lorelei Turner, Jessica and Samantha Yukich, Ryleigh Newton, Lauryn Nostrant-Torres, and Dani and Giovanna Nostrant; one great-grandson, Alec Cebulla; brother, Tom (Suzanne Anderson) McDonough, of Berrien Springs, Mich.; sister, Doris (John) Rielly, of Delavan; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother Michael McDonough.

Funeral services will be Wednesday in Big Rapids, Mich.

Memorial contributions may be made in Lynn’s name to God’s Kitchen at St. Mary-St. Paul Parishes, St. Vincent de Paul, WISE, or the Lion’s Club, all in Big Rapids, Mich.
