Fundraiser at Champs to benefit White River Park

From 6 to 8 p.m. Aug. 24, the Friends of the White River County Park will have a pig roast fundraiser at Champs Bar and Grill in Lake Geneva for a pig roast fundraiser.

Hikers, nature lovers and people who love historical places and the outdoors will gather to raise money to restore the prairies of the White River Park.

The park, on Sheridan Springs Road in the Town of Lyons, was acquired through Walworth County and a matching state grant in 2014. Since that time, the barn roof has been replaced and a picnic shelter erected. Trails are continually maintained and two bridges across the White River have opened access to the southern portion of the nearly 200 acres of the park that is open to the public from dawn to dusk.

Friends of the White River County Park and the public are welcome to attend the fundraiser. Proceeds from the gathering will be used to fund restoration of the prairies and for trail signs. Online tickets are available for $10 and at the door for $12 on Act Blue –secure.actblue.com/donate/champs2017.
