Volunteers needed to speak to seniors about Medicare

Volunteers are needed for the Walworth County Aging and Disability Resource Center to provide monthly information on Medicare topics to area seniors.

Discussions about Medicare are important for all seniors and their families to take part in so they can understand what is available for them, be referred to medigap plan g reviews, and how their current conditions affect their plans. This can help them look after their health and wellbeing consistently and be covered in any eventuality that something may happen.

Checking out Humana Medicare plans online at websites like medicareadvantage.com will provide further information on what is needed and set out detailed plans on what seniors can expect when they choose the one they want.

The program is called Medicare Minutes, which are short, engaging presentations on timely Medicare topics that are presented to seniors at area sites monthly. The outreach program offers information about Medicare and general information about the Aging and Disability Resource Center of Walworth County.

Time commitment will be one hour of training each month on the Medicare topic and then sharing that information in 15-minute speaking engagements to area senior groups at churches, senior dining centers and travel clubs.

The center is looking for presenters to go to Lake Comus senior apartments in Delavan and present at the Delavan High School and Delavan-Darien High School Alumni and Friends group. Volunteer presenters are also needed in the Whitewater area to go to the Starin Park senior center or Brookdale Apartments.

Anyone who is interested or would like more information may call the Walworth County Volunteer Services office at (262) 741-4223 or email Colleen Lesniak at clesniak@co.walworth.wi.us.
