Lila Ann Special, 85, of Fontana, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on June 25, 2017.
She was born Jan. 23, 1932, in Chicago. She enjoyed being a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to her five children, Nancy Despres, Michael McAndrews, Susan McAndrews, Joe Special and Nick Special, and their children and grandchildren.
Lila especially was proud of her 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren who absolutely adored her. Lila enjoyed gardening, cooking for her family and sharing memories with those she loved. She will be greatly missed.
A memorial gathering will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Elkhorn Christian Church, 100 W. Court St., Elkhorn, with the Rev. James Coehoorn officiating. Following the celebration of life, the family will greet friends for coffee and cake in the fellowship hall of the church.
