The Alliant Energy Foundation recently awarded Agape House, Walworth, a grant that will assist the organization in continuing its mission to educate and counsel young, at-risk women so they may find healing and strength as they face a future beyond abuse and brokenness.

Nick Cizauskas, senior key account manager with Alliant, presented the grant check to Pam Patterson, founder and executive director of Agape House June 7.

“Nick was extremely helpful to Agape House, providing support and encouragement” as Agape House representatives prepared the required documents to apply for the grant, according to a press release about the grant.

“Agape House is thrilled to be awarded this grant” as they continue to assist young women in achieving their goals.

Statements from former students confirm the difference this program is making in the lives of many young girls, the release states, including: “I have overcome my bad habits, improved my grades dramatically, and learned what love and respect are,” and, “I am learning how to communicate and have healthy relationships.”

Agape House is currently accepting applications for new students to begin the program at the end of August.

About Agape House

Since 1997, Agape House is a Christian ministry working to help girls and young women overcome the effects of abuse and trauma. The program offers Agape Home, a Christ-centered, non-denominational residential and transitional home; Agape School, individualized academics for resident and non-resident girls; mentoring for girls and young women; and counseling services for the girls, their families, and the greater community.

Founded by Ben and Pam Patterson, Agape House is a non-profit organization sustained by monetary donations and the work of volunteers with only 25-percent of funding coming from tuition fees. Tuition fees for the program are based on a sliding-scale fee, as the goal of Agape House is to never turn away a child because of finances. That leads to the organization relying on financial support from the community and volunteers.
