Seventh Street to close for rail crossing work

The Wisconsin and Southern Railroad is expected to begin rebuilding the Seventh Street railroad crossing Monday.

The block of Seventh Street between Wisconsin and Ann streets will be closed during the work, according to the city’s Public Works Department.

The work will involve removing and replacing the rails, ties and ballast from the entire crossing. The replacement will include concrete driving panels for the width of the roadway, said Public Works Director Mark Wendorf.

The crossing work is expected to be completed and Seventh Street reopened to local traffic by June 23.
