Dorothy Sady Downing, 65, of Delavan, died June 12, 2017, at Mercy Hospital in Janesville.
She was born in Elkhorn Dec. 1, 1951, to Eaba and Dorothy Botma. She married Gordon Downing on Aug. 25, 1973, at the Delavan Christian Reformed Church. She worked for many years as a legal assistant for Johnson Law Office and then Thorpe and Christian Law Firm. She was on the Congdon Park Committee, volunteered at Lakeland Aurora Medical Center and volunteered for the Reads Program at Wileman School.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Gordy; two children, Renee (Jeremy) Downing-Lee, of Delavan, and Richard Downing, of Delavan; a sister, Marion (Tim) Scott, of Delavan; a brother, Robert (Gloria) Botma, of Delavan; many nieces and nephews; and special dear friend, Norma Botma.
She is preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Vivian; and two brothers, John and Richard.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Delavan Christian Reformed Church, 850 Oak St. in Delavan with the Rev. Tim Kooiman officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of the service Friday at the church. Burial will take place at Spring Grove Cemetery in Delavan. Memorials can be directed to Lakeland School.
