The Elkhorn Area High School softball team sports a seven-game winning streak and is above .500 in the state’s toughest conference after last week’s games.

The Elks beat Racine St. Catherine’s 12-3 May 6 in a non-conference game at Racine. Elkhorn beat Waterford 8-2 and 7-0 in a Southern Lakes Conference doubleheader May 5 at Sunset Park in Elkhorn.

The Elks beat Delavan-Darien 5-0 May 4 in a SLC game at Darien and defeated Badger 11-4 and 5-12 May 3 in a SLC doubleheader at Lake Geneva.

The Elks (9-6, 6-5 SLC) had a non-conference Monday at home against Cudahy, and played Burlington Tuesday at home and at Union Grove Thursday in SLC games.

Elkhorn softball, collectively, did its best “Wonder Woman” impression and ripped off five wins in three days.

Against St. Catherine’s the Elks led 4-2 before breaking the game open with five runs in the sixth inning and three in the seventh.

Pitcher Taryn Ickes scattered three hits over seven innings and struck out five in a complete game effort.

The Elks finished with 15 hits. Ickes went 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored. Whitney Salamone went 2-for 4 with two runs scored and two RBI. Amy Kolacke went 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Morgan Hunter tallied two hits and two RBI.

In the 8-2 win against Waterford Rachel Gosh wrecked the Wolverines.

As a pitcher, Gosh allowed five hits over seven innings and struck out three. She also went 4-for-4 with two doubles, a home run and two RBI. For good measure, Gosh stole a base.

In the 7-0 shutout of Waterford the Elks’ Izzy Regner limited the Wolverines to three hits and struck out three more.

Salamone drove in three runs. Gosh and Haley Remington tallied two hits.

Regner threw a complete game and struck out five in the win against Delavan-Darien. Remington tallied two hits and two runs.

The Elks scored five runs in the second inning and never looked back against Badger. Elkhorn scored three more runs in both the fourth and fifth inning.

Gosh threw a complete game and struck out five. Remington finished with four hits and three RBI and Hunter tallied three hits and three RBI.

In the 5-1 victory against Badger Regner held the Badgers to three hits. Regner and Ickes each drove in two runs.
