KENNETH J. BORKOWSKI

Kenneth James Borkowski, 67, of East Troy and formerly of New Berlin, died May 2, 2017, after fighting a courageous battle against cancer. He was born May 16, 1949, in Milwaukee, to the late Ervin and Martha (White) Borkowski.

He married Karen Mae Surridge on May 15, 1999, at St. Peter’s the Apostle Catholic Church, East Troy. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Reserve.

He retired February 2015 from West Allis memorial Hospital Environmental Services, also having been regional manager for the southern region.

He enjoyed camping, fishing, traveling to Door County, cooking on his grill, and was an avid Green Bay Packer fan. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife and the love of his life, Karen; sons, David (Sharyl) Hapka, Andrew Hapka; daughters, Sarah Hapka and Laura (Kyle) Cross; grandsons, Chris Thomas, Branden and Nick Hapka, and Tyler Swenson; granddaughter, Amber Cross, granddarlin’, Sophia Hapka; brothers, Michael (Jeannie) and Jeffrey; sister, Nancy (Cindy) Smith-Borkowski; and nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

Funeral services will be at noon on Thursday, May 11, at St. Peter’s the Apostle Catholic Church, 1975 Beulah Ave., East Troy. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family are suggested.
