DONALD M. HOULBERG

      Donald M. Houlberg, 85, of Evergreen Parkway Elkhorn, died unexpectedly May 3, 2017, at Aurora Lakeland Medical Center.

He was born Oct. 24, 1931, in Chicago, to the late Victor K. and Gladys E. (Hunter) Houlberg. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He also attended Akron Law School in Akron, Ohio and served in the US Air Force.

He was united in marriage to Nancy “Feety” C. Ronsit on Nov. 26, 1962, in Madison. He enjoyed working at designing and creating various pieces of equipment and works of art. He loved the outdoors, camping up north, canoeing and hunting. He was a man of faith. His greatest love in life was his family and friends.

He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be deeply missed by his wife of 64 years, Nancy; two daughters, Robin (David) Houlberg Brunnquell of Port Washington, and Kirsten Wixon of Sheboygan; five grandchildren, Joseph and Jenna Brunnquell, Aaron Krieg, Elliot Lawrence and Issac Wixon; one great-grandson, Daniel Brunnquell; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by two daughters, Stephanie and Annette Houlberg; and his sister, Marvine J. Corley.

A funeral service was May 7 at Millard Community Church, N6713 County Rd O, Elkhorn. The Rev. Kristen Nelson and the Rev. Michael Dismer officiated. Visitation was Sunday at the church from 2 p.m. until service time. Private burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lake Geneva at a later date.
