Local businesses rally around downtown for world’s largest potluck

Five local businesses have come together for the world’s largest potluck in Whitewater, which will occur at Cravath Lakefront Park this Sunday, May 7.

Title sponsor SweetSpot Bakehouse will be joined by First Citizens State Bank and John’s Disposal as major sponsors. Coburn Co. and HSI rentals are also supporting the event. More donors will be highlighted as the event shortly before the event.

“We loved the idea of being a part of an event that celebrated something we love so much: community. We’re thrilled to sponsor an event that is all about coming together and enjoying the company of our neighbors,” SweetSpot owner Lacey Reichwald said.

As part of the event, sponsor SweetSpot Bakehouse will host a pie-eating contest to benefit local non-profit groups. At 1 p.m. representatives from area non-profits will compete in a pie-eating contest, with pie flavors of their choice. Prizes will be awarded to the top three teams.

Aiming for a sustainable event, Downtown Whitewater, Inc. is working with John’s Disposal to help with recycling efforts. John’s is donating their services and providing receptacles so that guests can keep their plastics out of the landfill. Guests are also asked to consider bringing their own reusable plates and/or silverware. Volunteer slots are still available and can be signed-up for at www.DowntownWhitewater.com/potluck.
