The Elkhorn Area High School boys golf team finished sixth April 29 in the two-day Brighton Dale Invitational Match Play Tournament at Brighton Dale Links in Kansasville.

Elkhorn finished fifth April 13 at Dellbrook Golf Course in Delavan in the season’s third Southern Lakes Conference Major.

The Elks finished 15th out of 24 teams April 24 at the Geneva National Invite at Geneva National Golf Club in Lake Geneva.

Elkhorn finished with six match play victories at Brighton Dale. Coach Steve Fisher said the Elks easily could have finished with nine or 10 victories, but lost some matches late.

Nick Keller finished 3-1, Liam Ahler and Nolan Shirk each finished 2-2 and Kyle Schoeneberg went 1-3.

Ahler posted a season-low round of 79 for the Elks at Dellbrook and finished 11th overall. Q Woyak shot an 82 and finished 20th and Shirk shot an 85 and finished 25th.

“He’s been kind of teetering and struggling with a few things,” Fisher said of Ahler. “It was nice to see him come down in the 70s. Hopefully, we can keep him around there the rest of the way.”

Kyle Schoeneberg and Nick Keller each carded 87s for the Elks. Elkhorn finished with a team score of 333, one of the program’s best scores in years.
