UW-Whitewater baseball to honor Lange, Wegner

The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater baseball team will continue its fight against cancer and recognize a longtime program supporter, public address announcer Tom Lange, for his 40 years of service to the program. The team will also recognize catcher Justin Wegner, who was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer last summer after completing his freshman season.

Wegner is expected to join the team in the dugout this Saturday, April 28 for the team’s doubleheader against UW-Platteville and will be recognized on the field between the first and second games of the doubleheader.

Lange will be recognized with the university’s “Tom Lange Bobblehead Day” as part of the festivities. Bobbleheads will be available for $5 each. It will be a part of a doubleheader the team will play this Saturday, April 28, against UW-Platteville. All proceeds from admissions and other memorabilia, including JwegStrong wristbands, will benefit the JwegStrong Fund to help offset costs associated with Wegner’s fight against the disease.

Lange is a longtime backer of multiple Warhawk teams. He currently serves as the public address announcer for the wrestling and baseball teams and attends numerous events for other sports. The doubleheader starts is scheduled for noon at Prucha Field at James B. Miller Stadium.
