First Citizens State Bank Executive Vice-President Nate Parrish and Assistant Vice-President Kat Mawhinney presented Mary McCulloch, Jim McCulloch and Pam Hookstead with a check for $1,000 on Nov. 30 to support the building of an electronic marquee at the entrance of Whitewater High School in memory of Lawrence “Bez” McCulloch.

The marquee will promote and highlight community awareness of the many Whitewater Unified School District programs held at WHS.

“Bez” was a lifelong member of the Whitewater community and a strong supporter of many WHS athletics, activities and special events. Following his death in November 2015, a huge outpouring of generous donations given to the family in his memory provided the seed money for the building of a marquee.

“Lawrence was very involved with school activities and the kids and athletics, and our son Jim also got involved with theater, beginning with playing Santa Claus at Lincoln Elementary School in fourth grade,” Mary McCulloch said. “The family wanted to do something with this memorial to honor and put back for the kids of the community.”

Making this project a reality calls for the financial support of business and community members and organizers extended a special thank you to Bright Nights Electric for providing all the electrical needs for the marquee.

All donations contributed toward the construction of the marquee at a final price of $28,000 are tax deductible and can be made at First Citizens State Bank, Whitewater; Attention Lawrence McCulloch Memorial Fund.

For more information, contact Jim McCulloch at (920) 723-7445 or Pam Hookstead at (262) 473-8515.
