LAWRENCE J. ROUCE

Lawrence J. ‘Larry’ Rouce, 77, Burlington, died Nov. 23, 2016, at his home. He was born March 19, 1939, in Chicago, to the late Adolph and Edythe (Schally) Rouce. He graduated from Elkhorn High School before attending Barber School in Chicago.

On June 18, 1961 he married Joyce Schulz. They made their home in Burlington where they raised their family.

He was a barber in Burlington and Paddock Lake for many years, before opening his own shop, Barber Stylists of East Troy. He retired in 2011 after 52 years of barbering. He also worked with the Town of Burlington Police Department for seven years.

He was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church where he served on the council and many other boards. He was a Lutheran Boy Pioneer leader and the treasurer for the school. He enjoyed hunting, traveling and especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

Survivors include his loving wife; children, Thomas (Kimberly) Rouce, David (Amy) Rouce, Lori (David) Jacobson; grandchildren, Nicholas (Abby) Rouce, Kyle Rouce, Bryce Rouce, Luke Jacobson, Shelby Jacobson, Lance Jacobson; great-granddaughter, Tessa Rouce; siblings, Linda (Virgil) Clark; brothers and sisters-in-law, Shirley Rote, Beverly (Roger) Pinnow, Bill (Thana) Schulz; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

He was further preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law, Herbert and Mildred Schulz; brother, Lee Rouce and brother-in-law, Tucker Rote.

Memorials may be made to St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Aurora Memorial Hospital of Burlington and the Revs. Daniel Waldschmidt and Kirk Lahmann for all their care, compassion and prayers.

Services were Nov. 27, at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Revs. Daniel Waldschmidt and Kirk Lahmann officiating. Burial was private. Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home and Crematory, Burlington, served the family.
