School district to have parent input sessions

The Delavan-Darien School District invites parents to participate in improving its five schools by learning about and contributing to its school improvement plans.

The district will have one-hour sessions regarding elementary, middle and high school plans at Phoenix Middle School, 414 Beloit St., to gain parents’ input as it looks to improve educational outcomes for its students.

Elementary

The district’s three elementary schools will present their school improvement plans at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 25 in the Phoenix Middle School cafeteria. The schools are venturing into the “center-school” learning model, where students are with their classmates from throughout the entire district.

Middle school

An information session and ice cream social for Phoenix Middle School took place Tuesday.

High school

Delavan-Darien High School remains focused on improving students’ reading and mathematical skills and closing the achievement gap between groups of students. An informational session regarding the high school will be from 5 to 6 p.m. Friday in the Phoenix Middle School cafeteria. Meeting attendees will receive a free ticket to the season’s first varsity football game, which starts shortly after the meeting. Parents are invited to help improve the school, then cheer on the Comets as they take on visiting Lodi at Borg Memorial Stadium on parents’ night. Tailgating starts at 6 p.m. by the stadium entrance.
