The Walworth County Sheriff’s Office is alerting the public about a convicted sex offender who was released in Walworth County.

According to a press release from the Sheriff’s Office, Reginald D. Burke, 63, is homeless, and didn’t provide and address to the Wisconsin Department of Corrections upon his release.

Burke will not be under supervision of the DOC, but will be required to participate in lifetime, Global Positioning Satellite tracking, the release stated.

Burke is not wanted by the police.

“Citizen abuse of this information to threaten, intimidate, or harass registered sex offenders will not be tolerated,” Capt. Robert J. Hall wrote in the release. “Further, such abuse could subject those who commit such acts to criminal penalties, and potentially end law enforcement’s ability to conduct community notification. We believe the only person who wins if community notification ends is the sex offender, since sex offenders derive their power through secrecy.”

Additional information is available at the DOC Sex Offender Registry website located at offender.doc.state.wi.us/public.
