East Troy Middle School eighth-grader Austin Pogreba has earned a position on the Wisconsin Junior High National Rodeo Team.

Pogreba will be with fellow teammates in Lebanon, Tenn., June 19 to 25 to compete at the National Junior High Finals Rodeo. He will be competing for a national title in the Bull Riding, Steer Wrestling and .22 Light Rifles events.

The National Junior High Finals Rodeo features about 1,000 contestants from 43 states, five Canadian provinces and Australia. In addition to competing for more than $75,000 in prizes, contestants will also be vying for more than $100,000 in college scholarships.

National title contestants must finish in the top 20 – based on combined scores in the first two rounds – to advance to Saturday evening’s final round. National champions will be determined based on their three-round combined score.

Live broadcasts of each performance will air on NHSRATV.com. Performance times are 7 p.m. on June 19 and 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. each day after. The championship performance will be televised nationally on RFD-TV. To follow for daily results visit HNSRA.org.
