ROBERT C. BLAKESLEY

Robert “Bert” C. Blakesley, 91, of Elkhorn, died unexpectedly Oct. 31, 2012 at Aurora Lakeland Medical Center in Elkhorn.

He was born Dec. 7, 1920 in Brainerd, Minn., to the late Paul and Edith (Brandstater) Blakesley. He served in the U.S. Army from 1941 until 1945. He married Frances Melson on Sept. 19, 1942 in Iowa City, Iowa.

He worked as an electrical engineer for more than 40 years with Oak Mfg. of Elkhorn until he retired in 1982. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Elkhorn, Elkhorn Kiwanis Club, former leader with the Boy Scouts and served on the board of directors of Vocational Industries.

He was an avid golfer. He was a devoted husband and loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Frances; six children, Jane (Terry) Budworth of Prescott, Judy (John) Duffiney of Des Plaines, Ill., Lois (Mel) Yoshikama of Oro Valley, Ariz., Bob (Linda) Blakesley of Minnetonka, Minn., Weston Blakesley of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Jim Blakesley of Elkhorn; seven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 3 at the First United Methodist Church, 111 N. Broad St., Elkhorn, with Rev. Dr. Lamarr Gibson officiating. Visitation will be at the church Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of services.
