The East Troy softball team hosted Big Foot Tuesday afternoon in a Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association Division 2 regional opener. The winner advanced to a regional semifinal Wednesday at top-seeded Delavan-Darien.

East Troy closed its regular season May 17 with a 13-1, five-inning loss at McFarland, ranked fifth in Division 2.

“(It was) one of those games that we came out flat and didn’t make plays,” East Troy coach Greg Prince said. “(We had) too many errors against a good team.”

The Trojans had just four hits, led by Vanessa Dingman’s two. Chloe Jakscht and Kelly Griffa each added one.

Sophia Heimos took the loss, as she allowed five earned runs, 11 hits and one walk. Eight of McFarland’s runs were unearned, as East Troy committed seven errors.

“Sophia pitched a pretty good game,” Prince said. “Unfortunately, we made mistakes behind her. She left a few pitches up, and that hurt her.”

Soccer notches victory

The East Troy girls soccer team picked up its second win of the season May 19 with a 3-2 RVC decision over Jefferson.

Details and scoring statistics from the match were unavailable.

The Trojans hosted Palmyra-Eagle Tuesday and travel to Menomonee Falls Friday. East Troy closes its regular season Saturday morning when it hosts Elkhorn at 10 a.m.

Baseball loses two

The East Troy baseball teams fell in two games with Whitewater last week, 7-0 on May 17, followed by a 5-4 setback May 19.

Details from both games were unavailable.

East Troy hosted Southern Lakes Conference foe Westosha Central Tuesday afternoon and hopes WIAA Division 2 regional play Thursday at Racine Lutheran-Prairie.
