Loss to Trojans ends softball season

A two-run first inning Tuesday afternoon gave the Big Foot softball team an early edge in its Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association Division 2 regional quarterfinal at East Troy.
And after the Trojans mounted a comeback in the middle innings, the Chiefs answered one more time.
But it was East Troy that finished on a high note – and ended Big Foot’s season.
Big Foot took a 4-3 lead in the fifth, but the Trojans scored twice in the bottom of the sixth inning in a 5-4 victory. The Chiefs closed the year at 8-12 overall.
With the win, East Troy advanced to a regional semifinal Wednesday afternoon at top-seeded Delavan-Darien. The winner of that matchup plays either fourth-seeded Monroe or fifth-seeded Evansville Friday in the regional final.
Big Foot banged out eight hits, including two each by Yesenia Gonzalez, who also drove in three, and Courtney Schoenbeck, who added a run scored.
Sophia Trakjavich and Sophia Foster both had a hit and a run scored for Big Foot, while Riley Davis had a hit and an RBI.
Davis took the loss, as she worked all six innings, and allowed five hits, three earned runs, three walks and struck out four.
