Badger tennis wins SLC title

Golf wins 20-plus team invites, conference meet

The Badger High School tennis team wrapped up the Southern Lakes Conference championship Saturday by winning the SLC tournament at Waterford.

Winning the tournament gave Badger 28 total points toward the conference championship. Westosha Central came in second with 22 points.

Mason Sniatynski won the No. 1 singles title defeating Jacob Ludwig of Burlington 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 in the title match. Jhon Nicia took first at No. 3 singles defeating Elkhorn’s Colin Passler 6-0, 6-4 in the final. Josh Bakken won the No. 4 singles title by defeating Westosha Central’s Trevor Millhouse 6-1, 6-4 in the final. Arhum Zafar took second at No. 2 singles losing to Unon Grove’s Jacob Genal 6-2, 2-6, 6-1 in the final.

Peter Merry and Avaish Pizrada finished second at No. 2 doubles losing to Westosha Central’s Lucas Wysiatkowski and Zack Wermeling 6-0, 6-3 in the final. Tin VonSeth and Ian Schirtzinger also took second, losing to Waterford’s Bryce Crafton and Andy Yoder 2-6, 6-4, 6-4 in the final.

Badger also won the Cedarburg Invitational on May 7 with 10 points. No one else had more than three points. Sniatynski won twice at No. 1 singles, Zafar won twice at No. 2 singles, Nicia won twice at No. 3 singles, and Bakken won twice at No. 4 singles. Temuulen Iderzul and Jack Wright won once at No. 1 doubles, and Charlie Giese and Wyatt VanDyke won once at No. 3 doubles.

Badger defeated Elkhorn in a dual meet 6-1 on May 9    . Singles winners for Badger included Sniatynski (6-0, 6-1), Nicia (2-6, 6-0, 6-2), and Bakken (6-2, 6-0). Doubles winners included Iderzul and Wright (6-7, 6-2, 7-6), Pizrada and Merry (6-4, 3-6, 6-1), and VonSeth and Schirtzinger (7-5, 6-7, 6-1).

Badger finished the dual meet season 7-0 and is 15-3 overall. Badger hosts the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association sub-sectional on May 23 and 24.

Golf wins three events

The Badger golf team won the 21-team Beloit Invitational on May 6 with a total score of 313. DeForest came in second with 319.

Luke Bourneuf, Connor Duggan and Blake Wisdom all shot 77. Jackson Rademaker carded an 82.

Badger won the 20-team Abbey Springs Invitational on May 9 with a team score of 321. Edgerton took second with 338.

Bourneuf led the way with a 79. Jonathon Duggan and Connor Duggan both shot 80. Wisdom shot 82.

Badger won the fourth Southern Lakes Conference Major on May 12 with a score of 325. Westosha Central took second with 335.

Connor Duggan led the way with a 75. Bourneuf shot 78, Wisdom shot 82, and Jonathon Duggan and Rademaker both shot 90.

Badger took second at the 14-team Ashenfelter Invitational in Janesville on May 7 with a score of 323. Arrowhead won the event with a 314. Bourneuf shot 77, Wisdom shot 80, and both Duggans shot 83.

The Badgers took fifth at the 18-team Lake Country Charity Invitational on Saturday with a score of 326. Marquette won the event with a score of 313. Bourneuf shot 77, Connor Duggan shot 78, Wisdom shot 85, and Jonathon Duggan shot 86.
