Golf takes second at Brighton Dale

The Badger High School tennis team improved to 13-3 (6-0 Southern Lakes Conference) on the season with three wins last week.

Badger defeated West Allis Central 5-0 at the Delavan Doubles Invitational on April 30. Winning doubles teams against West Allis were Ahrum Zafar and Mason Sniatynski (6-0, 6-1), Josh Bakken and Jhon Nicia (6-2, 6-0), Temuulen Iderzul and Jack Wright (6-0, 6-1), and Avaish Pizrada and Peter Merry (6-0, 6-0), and Ian Schirtzinger and Tim VonSeth (6-1, 6-0).

Badger also defeated Big Foot 4-1 at the Delavan Invitational. The winning doubles teams were Sniatynski and Zafar (6-0, 6-1), Iderzul and Wright (6-4, 6-1), Pizrada and Merry (7-6, 6-3), and Schirtzinger and VonSeth (6-2, 6-1).

Badger defeated Burlington 7-0 on May 5. Singles winners included Sniatynski (6-2, 3-6), Zafar (6-0, 6-0), Nicia (6-2, 6-0), and Bakken (7-5, 6-4). Doubles winners included Wright and Iderzul (6-3, 6-4), Pizrada and Merry (6-0, 6-3) and Schirtzinger and VonSeth (6-2, 6-2).

Golf team takes second

The Badger golf team finished second at the 24-team Brighton Dale Invitational on April 30. Badger scored a 324, just one shot behind Whitefish Bay. Luke Bourneuf led the way with a 74, the top individual score. Connor Duggan shot an 81, Jackson Rademaker carded a 83, and Blake Wisdon shot 86.

Track takes fourth, fifth

The Badger track teams took fourth and fifth at the Demon Invitational in Burlington on May 6.

The boys team finished fourth with 81 points. Jordan Monroe turned in the lone individual first-place finish in the pole vault (11-06.00). The 4×800 relay team of Gustavo Gordillo, Jacob Dertz, Mario Gomez and Koley Lofy also took first (8:27.21). Matt Compton took second in the high jump (6-04.00). Akil Jackson took second in the shot put (46-08.50). Lofy took fourth in the 800 meters (2:02.41). The 4×100 relay team of Christian Martinez, Alex Evans, Keegan Lafferty and Tyler VandeVelde took fourth (44.89).

The Badger girls took fifth with 288 points. Badger took first and second in the discus (Courtney Oomens, first, 118-01; Elizabeth Bullock, second, 114-00). Sydney Collins took first in the high jump (5-03.00). Luciana Di Vito too second in the 3,200 meters (12:28.77). The 4×800 relay team of Di Vito, Julia Adams, Cassidy Giese and Cassi Mennenoh took third (10:54.41). Shelby McKinney took fourth in the 3,200 meters (13:20.07). Amara Trent took fifth in the 400 meters (1:04.74). Maureen Clifford finished fifth in the 1,600 meters (5:35.24).
