Badger track takes first again

Golf places first twice

The Badger High School boys track team won the Badger Invitational on Friday with 173 points. Cary-Grove finished second with 142.5.

Badgers who turned in first-place performances included Colin Jackson in the 110-meter hurdles (16.74), Matt Compton in the high jump (6-02.00) and Tias Larson in the triple jump (39-10.50).

Second-place finishes included Larson in the 100 meters (11.73) and the 200 meters (23.74), Jackson in the 300-meter hurdles (43.75), Jordan Monroe in the pole vault (12-06.00), Will Keller in the long jump (19-00.00), and Compton in the triple jump (39-10.25).

Also finishing second were the following relay teams: 4×100 (Alex Evans, Mick Borchert, Jordan Hodges, Keegan Lafferty; 45.43), 4×200 (Evans, Borchert, Lafferty, and Christian Martinez; 1:34.20), and 4×400 (Jordan Hodges, Mario Gomez, Cody Harren, John Holeman; 3:36.04).

Other top finishes included:

  • 100 meters – Keller, third, 11.86;
  • 800 meters – Gomez, third, 2:04.32; Kiley Lofy, fifth, 2:06.16;
  • 400 meters – Gomez, fourth, 52.84; Lofy, fifth, 53.61;
  • 300-meter hurdles – Harren, fourth, 44.72;
  • High jump – James Bowen, fourth, 5-10.00;
  • Pole vault – Holeman, fourth, 10-06.00;
  • Long jump – Hodges, fifth; 18-08.50.

Girls take sixth

The Badger girls took sixth with 69 points. Jefferson won the invitational with 157.

Top finishes for Badger included:

  • High jump – Sydney Collins, first, 5-04.00;
  • Discus – Elizabeth Bullock, third, 114-11;
  • 400 meters – Amara Trent, fourth, 1:04.80;
  • Shot put – Bullock, fourth, 34-06.00; Miranda Koehn, fifth, 33-10.00;
  • 1,600 meters – Maureen Clifford, fifth, 5:35.83.

Golf takes first twice

The Badger golf team continued its impressive start to the season by winning two more events last week.

The Badgers took first in the second Southern Lakes Conference major on April 26 on the Arnold Palmer Course at Geneva National Golf Club with a team score of 327. Union Grove finished second with 349. Connor Duggan led the way with a 78 followed by 79 from Luke Bourneuf, 82 by Blake Wisdom and 88 by Jackson Rademaker.

The Badgers also took first at the Geneva National Invitational on April 28 with a score of 311. Waunakee took second with 323. Bourneuf finished second individually with a 74. Wisdom followed with a 77, Jonathon Duggan and Rademaker both shot 80.

Badger also participated in the Brookfield Central Invitational on April 27. The Badgers took second in the best-ball field with a 65 and third in the overall field with a score of 323. Bourneuf tied for fourth individually with a 76. Jonathon Duggan shot an 80, Connor Duggan shot an 81, and Rademaker shot an 86.

Tennis off to fast start

      The Badger tennis team is off to an 11-3 record (5-0 Southern Lakes Conference). The Badgers won all three of its matches at the Janesville Parker Quad on April 23.

Badger defeated Beloit Memorial 7-0. Singles winners included Mason Sniatynski (6-1, 6-3), Ahrum Zafar (6-0, 6-3), Colin Ring (6-2, 6-1) and Charlie Giese (6-1, 6-3). Doubles winners included Jhon Nicia and Josh Bakken (6-3, 5-7, 10-4), Temuulen Iserzul and Jack Wright (6-0, 6-0) and Peter Merry and Avaish Pizrada (6-0, 6-0).

Badger beat Fort Atkinson 6-1 with singles wins from Sniatynski (6-3, 6-2), Zafar (7-5, 6-2) and Nicia (6-4, 6-2. Doubles winners included Iderzul and Wright (7-5, 6-0), Merry and Pizrada (6-2, 6-1) and Tim VonSeth and Ian Schirtzinger (6-1, 6-1).

The Badgers defeated Janesville Parker 7-0 behind singles wins by Sniatynski (6-0, 6-0), Zafar (6-0, 6-0), Ring (6-0, 6-0) and Wyatt VanDyke (6-0, 6-0). Doubles winners included Nicia and Bakken (6-2, 6-1), Merry and Pizrada (6-0, 6-0), and Graham Bartal and VonSeth (6-0, 6-0).

The Badgers also defeated Waterford 5-2 on April 28. Sniatynski (6-0, 6-2), Nicia (6-0, 6-1) and Ring (6-1, 6-3) won their singles matches. Doubles winners included Pizrada and Merry (6-1, 7-5) and Schirtzinger and VanDyke (6-3, 6-4).
