Elks edge Wilmot in extra innings

Five runs in the final two innings helped the Elkhorn Area High School baseball team beat Southern Lakes Conference foe Wilmot 8-6 in extra innings April 21 at Wilmot.

The Elks lost 9-0 Saturday in a non-conference game at Beloit Memorial and lost 8-2 to Wilmot April 19 in a SLC game at Wilmot.

Elkhorn lost 9-4 to Waterford April 18 in a SLC game at home. The Elks played Monday at Waterford.

Elkhorn played Tuesday at Union Grove (3-6, 3-2 SLC), and play host to the Broncos today at home in SLC games. The Elks play Whitewater (4-3) Friday in a non-conference game at home.

In the win against Wilmot, the Elks tied the game in the seventh inning when Jet Weber stole home. The Elks scored three runs in the seventh and another two in the eighth for the win.

Brandon Komar drove in Ben McConnell for the go-ahead run and Jordan Van Dyke drove in Kyle Gosh for an insurance run.

Van Dyke finished with four hits and two RBIs. Lucas Harding tallied two hits and drove in two runs. Weber walked three times and finished three stolen bases.

Weber finished 2-for-3 against Memorial (7-4). Elkhorn committed four errors and allowed four runs in the second and another three in the sixth.

Patrick Glogovsky finished with the Elks’ two hits in the loss to Wilmot (1-7, 1-4 SLC). Elkhorn trailed 4-2 after scoring its only runs in the bottom of the third inning.

The Panther added a run in the fifth, another two in the sixth and one in the seventh.

The Elks outhit Waterford 11-10. The Wolverines led 5-0 before the Elks scored a run in the bottom of the second and another two in the bottom of the third.

Waterford (6-2, 5-0 SLC) added another run in both the fourth and fifth innings and two in the sixth. A seventh-inning Elkhorn rally ended after one run.

Van Dyke and Ross Ingersoll each finished with three hits. Weber tallied two. Komar pitched five innings and struck out six.
