The Elkhorn Area School District Board of Education voted April 25 in favor of approving a list of maintenance projects slated for this summer.

District Business Manager Bill Trewyn said the summer maintenance project list is something that comes before the board each year for review and approval, though this year is a bit different, as a slew of planned projects are already being handled under the district’s referendum project.

These projects include things like installing an ADA pool lift, improving building security district wide and replacing the high school’s foot ball bleachers.

As for projects outside the referendum, the estimated total comes to a cost of about $182,000. These projects include updating exterior and parking lot lighting to LED, which would result in savings equal to the $53,600 cost in three years. Other items include installing more lockers at the middle school, installing four bottle-filling units at high school water fountains and window treatments at Jackson Elementary.

The board approved the list of projects unanimously.
