The postseason run lasted just one night for the Big Foot boys basketball team.

Host Beloit Turner certainly made sure of that.

Turner, the seventh seed and champion of the Rock Valley Conference’s South Division, cruised out to a 37-16 halftime lead Tuesday night and never looked back in a 76-37 WIAA Division 3 regional quarterfinal victory.

The loss ended Big Foot’s year at 9-14 overall, while Turner improved to 16-7 and advanced to Friday’s regional semifinal at second-seeded East Troy.

That matchup is a battle of RVC champions, as the Trojans claimed the North Division crown.

Beau Cary led Big Foot Tuesday night with nine points and 11 rebounds, followed by Logan Eischeid with eight points and five rebounds. Michael Heidenreich added seven points and five rebounds.

Prior to Tuesday’s loss, the Chiefs closed out the regular season with a 55-54 win Feb. 25 over Palmyra-Eagle. Big Foot finished the RVC schedule at 7-9, good for third place.

Both teams scored 27 points in the first half – and Big Foot’s one-point edge in the second was the difference.

Cary had 19 points and seven rebounds to lead the way, followed by Mark Schauf with nine points and seven rebounds. Heidenreich added eight points and 12 rebounds, while Zak Greco had a team-high three steals.

Results of All-RVC voting and a statistical wrap of the season will run in a future edition.

Berryman wins one at state

Big Foot-Williams Bay wrestler Travis Berryman picked up a victory at last week’s Division 2 State Tournament at the Kohl Center, Madison.

In the first round, he defeated Medford’s Josh Brooks 14-8.

From there, Berryman ran into the eventual state champion, Two Rivers’ Paul Bianchi, who pinned him in 1:13. In the final match, Berryman (35-13) fell 5-0 to East Troy’s Cody Vogel.
