Badger boys drop two

The Badger boys basketball team fell to 2-6 after losing two non-conference games before Christmas.

Badger traveled to Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa, to play in the Wendy’s Classic on Dec. 19 and lost to Dubuque Hempstead 59-30. While Badger has struggled with defense this season, it was the offense that failed to get into gear in Iowa as Badger managed just 15 points in each half. The Badgers were outscored by 10 in the first half and by 19 in the second half as Hempstead pulled away.

Hempstead had three players score in double figures led by Trevor Sindberg with 14. Badger was led by Jake Berhorst with eight.

Badger lost to Sussex Hamilton (6-1) 67-52 on Dec. 22. Badger fell behind 31-24 at the half and Hamilton pulled away in the second half, outscoring the Badgers by 11. Berhorst had a good night with 28 points but no one else had more than six. Hamilton’s Jacob Hartung led all scorers with 35.

The Badgers travel to Kenosha Tremper on Jan. 5.
