Residents of Williams Bay were given an opportunity to speak out on sidewalks and the speed limit on Theatre Road Nov. 19 during a public hearing held by the Village of Williams Bay Streets and Highways and Protective Services committees.

With the addition of the elementary school to the existing high school in Williams Bay, Trustee David Jameson said the Protective Services Committee had spent some time looking at options of ways to better protect children traveling from the school to subdivisions off of Theatre Road.

Options discussed included the use of a path from the school property to connect out to Prairie View Road, which would then give students a walking path to a crosswalk at Theatre Road to cut over into the neighboring subdivisions, and a crosswalk at Geneva Street.

In addition, the topic of lowering the speed limit along Theatre Road from 35 mph to 25 mph was discussed and favored by many of the residents in attendance.
