Runners finish in top 10 at sectionals

The East Troy High School girls cross country team finished ninth, while the boys were 10th at last week’s Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association Division 2 Pewaukee Sectional.

Pewaukee won the girls’ title with 57 points, followed by Whitewater with 62, Deerfield-Cambridge with 100, Jefferson with 137 and Poynette with 143.

Lakeside Lutheran was next with 162 points, followed by Marshall with 191, Portage with 192, East Troy with 200 and Lake Mills with 284.

A total of 15 teams competed.

Junior Maddie Rosin led the Trojans in 14th-place overall in 20:59. She was followed to the finish line by freshman Rachel Bottum, 20th (21:20); freshman Morgan Bartlett, 29th (21:49); freshman Kaylee McFarland, 61st (23:13); junior Heather Vivian, 76th (23:53); junior Kayla Casper, 84th (24:42); and sophomore Joy Salentine, 89th (25:22).

On the boys’ side, East Troy tallied 243 points to place 10th overall.

Pewaukee also won the boys’ title with 41 points, followed by Deerfield-Cambridge with 76, Jefferson with 105, Poynette with 129 and Lakeside Lutheran with 132.

Rounding out the top-10 in the 14-team meet were Portage with 196 points, followed by Watertown Luther Prep with 198, Marshall with 199, Whitewater with 201 and East Troy.

Junior Nolan Dallas was 32nd in 18:29 to lead East Troy, followed by freshman Nathan Fox, 37th (18:32); freshman Jacob Smith, 53rd (19:12); senior Sam Foley, 54th (19:12); senior Gabe Braam, 67th (19:40); senior Charlie Ward, 82nd (20:52); and junior Allen Herrell, 85th (21:02).

Soccer falls in opener

The East Troy boys soccer team fell 8-0 in a Division 3 regional opener last week at Whitnall.

Whitnall scored four goals in each half. The Falcons defeated Catholic Memorial 4-3 in the regional final to advance to this week’s sectional semifinal against defending Division 3 state champion Delavan-Darien.

Results of All-Rock Valley Conference voting will run in a future edition.
