A long weekend of baseball in Antigo left the East Troy Legion Post 188 squad a little weary when it hosted Beloit last Monday night.

But East Troy still gave it a strong effort against a solid program.

Post 188 found itself tied after the fifth inning before Beloit pushed four runs across the plate in the top of the seventh to hand East Troy an 8-4 loss.

“Another solid outing by Will (Iloncaie) with no decision,” East Troy coach John Wick said. “He went toe-to-toe with the fifth-ranked team in the state.”

Beloit scored three runs in the third inning before East Troy answered with four of its own in the fourth.

A single by Iloncaie drove in Logan Parsons, who had singled, followed by an RBI single by Josh Oswald that drove in Evan Wick, who had singled.

After a walk to Ryan Olsen, Logan Mitchell and Nick Bertschinger both singled to drive in Oswald and Olsen and give Post 188 a 4-3 advantage.

Beloit knotted the score in the fourth, and that’s how things stayed until the seventh. East Troy managed just singles by Sam Goral and Iloncaie off Beloit pitchers the rest of the way.

East Troy began play in the Class A regional tournament at Jefferson Wednesday. Post 188 played Markesan in the first round.

Other first-round games had Jefferson against the Kenosha Rake, Horicon against Waupun and Mayville against Green Lake.

Wick said Waupun entered the tournament as the favorite to advance to state, set for West Salem July 29 to Aug. 2.
