Police investigate BB shooting incident

Whitewater Police are investigating a BB shooting that occurred last Saturday and though one suspect has been apprehended, police are seeking additional information and persons of interest regarding the incident.

According to a press release from the department on Saturday, July 4 at about 10:24 p.m., Whitewater police officers responded to a rescue squad call near 130 W. Main St. for a report of a subject who believed he had been struck with an unknown object. That object was later determined to be a small, metal BB pellet.

While at the scene several additional victims reported being struck by BB pellets, advising officers they believe the shots may have come from the rooftop area of 135 W. Main St., the release stated.

Members of the Whitewater Rescue Squad treated patients at the scene though one patient was transported to Fort Atkinson Hospital and later to UW-Health in Madison for further treatment.

A downtown business also sustained damage to an exterior window during the incident.

With assistance from the Whitewater Fire Department and the owner of the building at 135 W. Main St. officers were able to gain access to the rooftop where evidence of the crime was located and secured.

On July 5, officers began to canvas the apartments in the area and met with Marios N. Shahollori, 19, a resident of 135 W. Main Street. After meeting with Shahollori and locating preliminary items of interest at the apartment, the scene was secured and a search warrant was sought. Shahollori was subsequently taken into custody and transported to the Walworth County Sheriff’s Office on charges of Second Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, Disorderly Conduct, Substantial Battery, Damage to Property, Possession of THC and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

The incident remains under investigation and police are seeking additional persons of interest. They also request anyone who was struck with a BB pellet or witnessed the incident contact Officer Vander Steeg or Detective Lindsey at (262) 473-0555.
