Marion J. Mitchell, 89, of Lake Geneva, passed away July 1, 2015, at Mercy Walworth Hospital.

She was born in Cumberland, Oct. 15, 1925, to Alvin and Lola (Sherwood) Howe. Marion was united in marriage to the love of her life, Robert E. Mitchell, in 1958.

Marion was an excellent snow skier, water skier and tennis player. She enjoyed fly fishing in Ketchum, Ind., where she and her husband spent some of their time. Marion also enjoyed boating on Delavan Lake. She worked for the Social Security Administration in her younger years. Marion enjoyed having annual gallant Christmas parties and summer jazz parties both in Delavan Lake and Geneva National. She is well known for her famous brownies and shrimp. Standard poodles were plentiful for Marion, always having two at a time. She also fell in love with “Tucker,” a Maltese, which would constantly be by her side, both awake and during sleep. Marion was a member of the Delavan United Church of Christ, Delavan Lake Yacht Club and Garden Club in Delavan.

Marion is survived by her family, including a son, Scott, and Gigi Pregent, of Lake Geneva; a stepson, Robert Mitchell Jr., of California; seven grandchildren, Scott (Kersten) Rojas, Rick (Evelyn) Rojas, Casey (Kyra) Pregent, Alexis Pregent, Robert (Julie) Mitchell III, Corey Mitchell and Tyler Krobetzky; and seven great grandchildren.

Marion is preceded in death by her husband; two daughters, Jackalyn Rojas nee Pregent, and Linda Krobetzky (nee Mitchell); her parents; three brothers; and a sister.

A celebration of Marion’s life will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday at Delavan United Church of Christ-Congregational, 123 E. Washington St., with the Rev. Becky Boggs officiating.

Visitation will take place from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Monroe Funeral Home, 604 E. Walworth Ave., and from 10 a.m. until the time of service Thursday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, Marion would like contributions to Delavan United Church of Christ or Lakeland Animal Shelter.
