Horse Power Healing Center seeks volunteers

Horse Power Healing Center, S101 W34628 Highway LO, Eagle, will hold a volunteer training from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 7, weather permitting.

The center is in need of volunteers to assist with equine-assisted therapeutic riding lessons. For each lesson, the center needs two people to walk alongside the horse and a person to lead the horse.

“Whether or not you have experience with horses or people with special needs, there is a role for you at the center,” the center’s Executive Director Wendy Konichek wrote in a press release. “You just need the desire to give your time and we can almost guarantee you will receive more than you give.”

The center also needs people to help get the horses ready for the lessons.

“Many find helping with lessons the most rewarding part of their volunteer experience because of the direct connection they develop with our students and horses,” Konichek wrote.

And for the “horses-shy,” the center has volunteer opportunities in the areas of marketing, fundraising, events, facility maintenance and other special projects.

Horse show on July 26

The center is holding is third annual Benefit Horse Show on Sunday, July 26th at West 20 Ranch, W4812 Highway 20, East Troy.

The show has both open and therapeutic classes and all the funds raised go toward our Therapeutic Riding, “Horses for Heroes” and “Horses for Hope” programs. There are volunteer opportunities during the show in the office, food booth, class sponsorships, helping with the HPHC students and horses and more.
