East Troy has 19 named to all conference teams

The votes are in, and spring athletes at East Troy fared quite well in post-season, All-Rock Valley Conference honors.

East Troy landed five baseball, three softball and six girls soccer on first, second or honorable mention, according to recently released results.

The Trojans’ girls soccer team, which won their first regional title in program history, put three athletes on first team to lead the way.

Named to the first team were senior forward Brianna Casper, senior midfielder Monica Zoellner and junior midfielder Brianna Probst.

Joining that trio was senior defender Olivia Healy, a second-team pick, along with junior Savanna Black and sophomore Kayla Casper, who were honorable mention selections.

Casper led the Trojans, who finished 14-9 overall, with 32 goals and 12 assists, followed by Zoellner with 25 goals and seven assists and Probst with 14 goals and 28 assists.

Healy tallied five goals and five assists this spring, while Black had six goals.

East Troy’s baseball team, which finished the spring at 13-11 overall, was led by senior Will Iloncaie, who was a first-team pick in the North Division.

Iloncaie batted .430 in 2015 (34 for 79), with 21 runs scored, eight doubles, a triple, two home runs and 16 RBI. On the mound, he posted a 6-3 record, with a 1.04 Earned Run Average (eight earned runs in 54 innings) and 52 strikeouts.

Named to the second team were senior catcher Evan Wick and senior outfielder Jason Dopke, while junior Nick Bertschinger and senior Nick Ruffalo were honorable mention.

Wick batted .392 (31 for 79), with 24 runs scored, six doubles, a home run, 14 RBI and six stolen bases. Dopke finished at an identical .392 (31 for 79), with 16 runs scored, three doubles, triple, 21 RBI and four stolen bases.

As a pitcher, Bertschinger was 5-2, as he allowed four earned runs in 39 2-3 innings, good for a 0.71 ERA, 10 walks and 16 strikeouts. He also batted .351 (20 for 57), with 17 runs scored, three doubles, a triple and 10 RBI.

Ruffalo batted .318 (28 for 88), with 22 runs scored, a triple and nine RBI.

Jefferson senior Nick Schrader was named the North Division Player of the Year, while co-Coaches of the Year were Jefferson’s Greg Fetherston and Edgerton’s Mike Gregory.

The East Troy softball team had three honorees, junior infielder Vanessa Dingman, who was second team, and sophomore catcher Kaitlyn O’Connell and junior infielder Chloe Jakscht, who were honorable mention.

Year-end statistics for all three players were unavailable.

McFarland’s Lexy Kemnitzer was named Player of the Year, while co-Coaches of the Year were McFarland’s Dave Halverson and Evansville’s Charity Kostroun.
