Volunteers asked to ‘Make a Difference’ Oct. 25

For two decades, USA Weekend and HandsOn Network, a business unit of Points of Light Institute, have joined together to sponsor Make a Difference Day, the largest national day of helping others.

Make a Difference Day takes place during the last week in October, typically on the last Saturday.

Walworth County Volunteer Services and Volunteer Connection are working jointly to organize two events for Make a Difference Day.

Volunteers will be dispatched to Holiday Home Camp in Williams Bay on Thursday, Oct. 25 for a day of service. Holiday Home Camp is a residential camp that provides educational and recreational opportunities for disadvantaged youth from the surrounding areas.

Volunteers will be assisting in organizing the camp’s library, painting picnic tables and doing a landscaping project.

Also, in conjunction with Make a Difference Day, Walworth County Volunteer Services will be hosting a book drive for new and gently used children’s book to be held now until Nov. 1.

Books will be given to Holiday Home Camp and to the Walworth County Holiday Care Program.

Donation of books will be accepted at the Walworth County Volunteer Services office in the Walworth County Government Center at 100 W. Walworth St., in Elkhorn and at the Matheson Memorial Library, 101 N. Wisconsin St., Elkhorn.
