East Troy gets busy Memorial Day weekend

Corn and brat roast, community-wide rummage return

The East Troy Area Chamber of Commerce’s 39th annual Corn & Brat Roast will return on Memorial Day weekend, May 22-25, on the East Troy village square.

The event, featuring roasted sweet corn, brats, hot dogs, burgers, soda and beer, as well as live entertainment, will run from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday.

The following entertainment lineup will take place rain or shine, with no cover charge:

Saturday, May 23

Noon to 1:30 p.m. The Jory Simmons Steel Guitar Show

2-6 p.m. Liam Ford Band

Sunday, May 24

Noon to 1:30 p.m. The Poor Boys

2-6 p.m. 4 Lane Hwy.

Monday, May 25

1-5 p.m. Smooth Blues

Get ready to rummage

The weekend events also include the Chamber’s 24th annual East Troy Community-Wide Rummage Sale on Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Chamber and CSI Media have teamed up for sale registration for this popular event.

A listing of all the rummage sales will be posted on the Chamber’s website, www.easttroy.org on Wednesday, May 20.

Eric Grossmeyer of AntiqueWisconsin.com will be on the village square on Saturday, May 23, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. for an “Antique Roadshow”-style antique appraisal event. Bring up to three items for a free appraisal.

Spotlight Real Estate, Martin’s Hardware-Rental & Pet and Goodwill will provide a truck to collect leftover rummage sale items and other contributions from the community on Sunday, May 24, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Martin’s shopping center, located at 3288 Main St.

Need a spot to sell stuff?

Take part in East Troy’s annual community-wide rummage sale and earn some cash by selling your stuff at the first East Troy Farmers Market of the season on Friday, May 22, from 3 to 7 p.m.

Shoppers can expect to find a nice assortment of items for sale, such as toys, books, household items, clothing, furniture, small appliances in working condition, lawn and garden and many other items.

Memorial Day parade, ceremony

American Legion Loomis-Martin Post 188 of East Troy will kick off its Memorial Day observances with the annual parade through the village square.

All marching groups should be at the intersection of Beulah Avenue and Union Street at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 25.

The parade will proceed south on Beulah Avenue and then east onto Main Street and to the downtown square.

Upon arrival at the square, marchers should enter at the north sidewalk.

The ceremony will begin as soon as all groups are in place on the square at about 10:45 a.m.
